Financing Fascism & Fundamentalism - Corporate Funding Flows Sowing Hate

  • 🇺🇸 Church Center, United Nattions (11th Floor) 777 United Nations Plaza New York, NY, 10017 United States (map)

Hate as a business model? Join us on March 11th, from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, at CCUN (11th Floor) for our parallel event at CSW for an exclusive look at our upcoming report with IJSC. Let’s talk about how far-right content is being monetized, and how we can fight back.

Amid a global capitalist crisis, the far-right has mastered the art of leveraging both licit and illicit financial channels to consolidate power, launder influence, and push its agenda. This event will unpack the complex web of funding, from Big Tech and Big Oil to so-called “progressive” development funds that are quietly funding anti-rights movements. Together, we’ll break down the narratives that justify and obscure these financial flows, exposing how fascist fundamentalisms are sustained and, more importantly, how they can be disrupted. This conversation is just the beginning of a multi-year research and campaign effort aimed at not only uncovering these financial networks but actively targeting and dismantling them.

For our pilot project, we have partnered with the IJSC to look into how Meta’s business model thrives on hate. We’ve been tracking how changes to Meta’s content moderation policies have directly translated into profits, not just for the platform itself but for the right-wing and fascist content creators who exploit these digital spaces. Our research interrogates the financial flows that sustain and expand the far-right’s influence, from corporate funding streams to ideological pipelines, and asks what it means when platforms don’t just enable extremism, but actively cash in on it.

This conversation will be moderated by Mona Eltahawy and we will be joined by speakers such as: Bhumika Muchhala (Third World Network), Sofía Scasserra (Transnational Institute), Bhumika Saraswati (Dalit organiser and photographer) and more.
